The problems begin after I install these updates. After the computer restarts, I can no longer use my keyboard (HP SK-2506 U) and mouse (Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical). I've looked around through the forums, and have tried several suggestions; however, none have them worked, which is why I am posting here.

For instance, here are the methods I've tried so far all while using a PS/2 connected keyboard:
1) Started the computer in safe mode only to find out that they keyboard and mouse still do not work.

2) Went in Bios mode, and the keyboard works until I leave it.
3) Tried Microsoft's Fix It tool for USB devices, and it says that 'changes were made', but it does not fix the problem.

4) I went to the Control Panel, typed 'troubleshoot' >Find and Fix problems > Hardware and Sound > Configure a Device, and it says, 'Hardware changes might not have been detected.'

5) Download the drivers from their website, but they will not install because 'the latest version is already installed'.

6) Going into Device Manager to delete each USB root hub, and then restart the computer to have it reinstall the drivers. The computer recognizes the 'new' devices,
but then fails installing them. Also, when I check their error status on each of the USB's while in the Device Manager, I get an error (code 52).

7) I also tried to installing one update, restarting the computer, and then installing the next update in an attempt to narrow down which one is causing the problem; however, this method does not work either. For example, I installed one update, then restarted the computer, and it would be fine. Then install the next update, and the problem would come back. So I would restore to an earlier point thinking that the second update was causing the problem only to discover that the problem came back after re-intalling the first one..

I've also tried running a back up to my external hard drive, but that fails. I also tried to create a system repair disc, and it fails too.

So far, the only way I can 'fix' this problem is if I restore my computer to an earlier point in the day, and then hide all the updates to prevent them from automatically installing.

Now I'm just wondering if anyone knows why these problems are happening or how to fix them for good?
